    I participated at trustee board meetings for the national CPRE charity and took a position on the digital project board. The role allowed me to gain experience, acting as if I were a trustee, but without assuming the associated legal and constitutional responsibilities. I was therefore able to offer my knowledge and skills, whilst learning about charity governance by observing and participating in a fully-immersive manner under the guidance of the wider board.

    The Durham Award is an award open to final year undergraduates at Durham University for commitment to extracurricular activities including college and university sport, volunteering and skills-enhancing workshops. To qualify for the award students must first apply and prove that a variety of criteria have been met. They must then pass an panel interview and present to representatives from the University board. 63 students achieved the Durham Award in 2011.
